Your teeth can significantly affect your appearance, self-esteem and the way you are treated by other people. It is one of the first things people notice when they first meet you. If you are after a quick fix, my teeth whitening friend sent us a teeth whitening kit from Australia that delivered amazing results. However, trying to talk or smile without showing your pearly whites can be difficult. If your chompers have a yellowish tint or if they are covered in stains, you may find yourself constantly worrying about their appearance. You may be desperately trying to hide them. Regular brushing and flossing are vital to the health of your teeth and can help prevent stains. However, stains and yellowing can still occur even with proper brushing. Thankfully, there are a few tips you can add to your oral hygiene routine that naturally whitens your teeth.
Eat Your Fruits and Vegetables
Consuming raw celery, carrots, and other crunchy vegetables, as well as raw apples, pears, and other crispy fruits can naturally keep your teeth white. These healthy foods are naturally abrasive, removing stains from tooth enamel and polishing your teeth. Furthermore, crisp fruits and vegs encourage the mouth to produce more saliva, which helps protect teeth from bacteria that cause cavities.
Brush with Baking Soda
Baking soda has long been used as a natural way to remove stains from teeth. Taking a walk down the toothpaste aisle at your local department store will yield several name brand toothpaste that contains baking soda. Baking soda sprinkled on a wet toothbrush can successfully whiten your tooth. Another option is to add lemon juice to the baking soda to create a paste and then brush your teeth with the paste. The paste can help get rid of stubborn stains that baking soda alone can’t remove. Keep in mind, however, that baking soda is abrasive and may damage tooth enamel. To help prevent problems, use baking soda only once a week.
Brush with Strawberries
Strawberries are amazing fruit that can help reduce your chance of cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure. They can also contribute to whitening your teeth. Strawberries contain vitamin C and malic acid. Vitamin C contributes to reducing plaque buildup and malice acid removes stains from the surface of your teeth. To use strawberries as a natural tooth whiten, only crush the berries into a messy pulp, use your toothbrush to apply the berries to your tooth and let sit for about five minutes before rinsing your mouth with water.
Rinse with Hydrogen Peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is a germicidal agent that is relatively inexpensive, easy to find and has a wide array of uses including as a natural teeth whitener. Simply rinse your mouth with hydrogen peroxide after brushing your teeth. Swish the peroxide around your mouth for several seconds avoiding swallowing the liquid. When finished, spit the peroxide out of your mouth, brush your teeth once again and rinse with water.
Remember, tooth-whitening products whether natural or commercial are no substitute for proper oral hygiene, and you should always practice proper teeth care. Furthermore, reduce your consumer of soda, wine, coffee and tea, which can all stain your teeth.
